Comprova App
2022
What if we could empower voters by making fact-checking more accessible, collaborative, and timely?
The Challenge
During the 2022 Brazilian elections, misinformation spread rapidly, threatening democratic processes and voter confidence.
There was an urgent need for a trustworthy, easy-to-use platform that would help citizens quickly verify the accuracy of political information circulating online, accessible to a diverse and broad audience amid high stakes and time pressure.
Process
Conducted in-depth user research with over 100 voters and stakeholders to understand users’ behaviors, pain points, and information needs during elections.
Designed accessible, clear interfaces focused on simplicity and trustworthiness, validated through multiple usability testing rounds.
Collaborated closely with developers and journalists to rapidly prototype and launch the app within weeks, balancing speed and quality under political sensitivity.
Built a custom design system in Figma from scratch, including styles and components, supporting scalable development and consistent UX.
Iterated on the prototype after user testing revealed navigation issues, introducing themed filters to improve content discovery and usability.
Solution
The final app offered a streamlined, intuitive interface that enabled users to quickly verify political content with fact-checked articles from trusted journalistic sources. Features included categorized news filters for easy navigation, accessibility improvements for diverse users, and a reliable, secure platform able to handle high traffic during election peaks.
This design empowered voters to engage confidently and critically with political information.
